What is the Center for Biblical Studies?
The Center for Biblical Studies (CBS), founded in 1974 as the Lay Institute at Dallas Seminary, provides biblical and theological education for the personal faith enrichment of adults (17 and older) in the Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW) community. CBS offers courses in Bible, theology, spiritual life, and ministry skills.
What is the purpose of CBS?
CBS helps Christian adults grow in their personal knowledge of and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. As students grow, CBS equips them for service in their various church and ministry settings.
Who Teaches the Center for Biblical Studies Classes?
CBS recruits its faculty from master-level Seminary students or graduates of Dallas Theological Seminary. After years of ministry, the Lay Institute/CBS program at DTS has developed more than 700 teachers; many of them have gone on to distinguished careers all over the world.
When and Where Do Classes Meet?
Most CBS courses meet on Monday or Tuesday evenings during the fall, spring, and summer semesters in the Campbell Academic Center on the campus of DTS near downtown Dallas.
Relationship with Dallas Seminary
CBS is a non-accredited continuing education ministry of Dallas Theological Seminary to adults (17 years and older) in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. CBS provides courses designed to enhance and enrich the student’s personal faith and walk with Christ.
Moreover, CBS provides a faculty-supervised teaching laboratory for DTS students and graduates.
